June 21st & 22nd 2025
Windrush 77th Anniversary
A two-day of celebration, reflection, and cultural exchange, featuring music, food and other activities at Landseer Road Park and Sailmakers Shopping Centre, Ipswich.
Our mission is to celebrate the contributions of the Windrush Generation in Ipswich and to promote cultural exchange and social cohesion.
Following on from the success of our Micro Reflection Room in Sailmakers Shopping Centre, Ipswich, it is now time for us to share this special space with our wider society. We aim to create the front room setting within a touring bus for all to see and reflect upon what we all have in common without social media all those years ago.
If you can help, please donate to our fundraiser.

The Windrush Generation transformed British society after arriving from the Caribbean between 1948 and 1971, with many settling in towns like Ipswich. This annual festival celebrates their lasting contribution to our community while bringing together residents of all backgrounds for one of Suffolk's biggest cultural celebrations. Organisers say the event has grown significantly since launching, describing it as “about coming together to celebrate identity, legacy and resilience.”

The Ipswich Windrush Society, based in the Sailmaker's Shopping Centre, has been awarded £20,000 as part of the government's Windrush Day Grant Scheme 2025. Mr Thomas said: “From small acorns resilient oak trees are spawned. The first generation planted those seeds and those roots steadfast into the ground for the generations that followed to build this society in Ipswich and the surrounding areas “We would like to celebrate this 77th anniversary with all our society so we can come together and showcase what Ipswich has to offer.”
